Why Fera?

If we talk about a dog that’s ‘difficult’, reactive, sensitive, anxious, overloaded, rescued – I know a thing or two, as I live with one.
Nika was born in the south of Italy and brought by bus to the Netherlands. Fostered there and here before we found her.
At first, things looked fine. Then the biting started. Not out of dominance or aggression. Purely because of a constant overloaded system.
I’d stand up and boom. Teeth in skin. Bruises in every color. Sometimes blood. We couldn’t move freely in our own home without triggering her.
We tried what felt like everything. Behaviorists. Vet checks. Different approaches. Nothing shifted the pattern.
After 9 months of biting, I started thinking about rehoming her. For a moment, that felt like relief. Then guilt. Then anger: why can’t I figure this out?
So I went deep, even into ChatGPT, and started listening to myself again instead of outsourcing my judgment to all the dog advice online.
Mention biting in Chat and it immediately switches into safety mode. That’s why I built my own custom GPT: I needed context, not cookie-cutter answers.
Although it wasn”t easy to get the GPT right, it worked. Nika hasn’t bitten for over a weeks now. #Hooray
I thought: “Oh my dog, this is too good to keep to myself”. And that’s how Fera was born. Sharpened, refined, and rebuilt.
